LETTER FROM THE
BOARD CHAIR
As I reflect on the journey that brought me to Chapman Partnership, I am reminded of a lesson instilled in me from an
early age: we have a responsibility to give back to our community. When I moved to Miami in 2004, I found a city that not
only welcomed me with open arms, but embraced this very principle. An invitation from an acquaintance to tour Chapman
Partnership would mark the beginning of a journey of purpose—one that resonated deeply with me from the moment I
stepped through its doors.
What struck me then, and continues to inspire me today, is Chapman’s holistic approach to empowering our residents.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive programs and services in collaboration with others that empower our clients
with dignity and respect to overcome homelessness and achieve and maintain long-term self-sufficiency. This is not just a
place where people find shelter; it’s where they rediscover their strength, restore their dignity, and re-imagine their futures.
Chapman’s comprehensive model goes beyond emergency housing; it equips individuals with the tools, resources, and
support they need to thrive long after they’ve left our care.
In 2024, we kicked off the celebration of 30 years of dedicated service to our community. While we honored the progress
made possible by the vision of Alvah H. Chapman Jr. and the strong leadership of the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust,
we also acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead. Guided by the vision of our President & CEO, Scott Hansel, and with
the support of our leadership team, we worked diligently to develop innovative solutions to address rising housing costs,
wage disparities, and the evolving economic landscape in Miami-Dade County. Through expanded workforce training and
educational opportunities, enhanced supportive services, and holistic family and wellness programming, we are meeting
these challenges head-on. Our achievements are a testament to the steadfast dedication of our donors, corporate partners,
and volunteers. Your continued commitment has been instrumental in advancing our mission and making a meaningful
difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness.
One of the most memorable moments of 2024 was our Take A Walk in Her Shoes event, which not only continued to raise
awareness but also elevated the conversation. The panel discussion featured inspiring voices from across our community,
shedding light on the unique struggles faced by women and families experiencing homelessness. It was a powerful
reminder that when we come together to listen, learn, and support one another, we build the bridges that strengthen our
city.
As Board Chair, I am deeply grateful for our staff, board members, volunteers, donors, and community partners whose
tenacious commitment to our mission brings hope to those who need it most. Together, we are not just providing shelter;
we are paving pathways to possibility.
With determination and heart, we look ahead to the next chapter in Chapman Partnership’s legacy.
With gratitude,
BRIGID CECH SAMOLE
